ORGANISERS are annoyed after vandals intentionally damaged a sign advertising one of the largest events in the county.

Organisers of RHS Malvern Spring Festival were angry to find vandals have intentionally spray-painted over information on the sign in Malvern Link.

The sign was in place above the roundabout at the bottom of Malvern Link advertising the festival - but the vandals struck less than 24 hours later.

John Wilesmith, executive estate consultant at Three Counties Showground, said: "We have put up a lot of signs around the county but this one at Malvern Link was damaged yesterday (May 5) and now it's completely useless.

"They sprayed out all of the information with black paint.

"We have reported it to the police but it's quite big and cost a lot of money.

"It's the busiest roundabout in Malvern and the idiot that did this is really annoying."

The sign was 12 feet by 8 feet and the graphic alone cost over £500.

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting crime reference number 165I06052024.

RHS Malvern Spring Festival takes place at the Three Counties Showground and runs from Thursday, May 9 to Sunday, May 12.

This year, the festival is set to champion the transformative impacts of gardening on lives, communities and the planet.

Television personalities such as Alan Titchmarsh MBE, Adam Frost and Frances Tophill will share their wisdom at the event, organised in association with My Pension Expert.

This year's motto is 'Gardening for Change', and there will be heaps of guidance on techniques to increase garden resilience, ranging from improving soil, saving rainwater, planting for various weather conditions, and plenty of cost-saving tips.

Digbeth Dining Club will have a street food village at the festival.

A new Festival of Houseplants, in association with Green Rooms Markets, aims to encourage the growth of green indoor spaces.

Daily workshops will be conducted by experts on plant care and terrarium maintenance, such as Ben Newell of Worcester Terrariums.

In response to living costs and the joy of nurturing plants, Proctor's will be providing herbaceous stalwarts such as achillea, Leucanthemum and nepeta that can be divided and shared.

Seed seller Stocks & Green will offer vibrant annuals to fill visitors' gardens with summer colour.

Tickets for the RHS Malvern Spring Festival 2024 begin at £15 for a 'Taster Ticket' (with under 16s free).
