Town pay the price for lack of belief

BROMYARD TOWN 0, LYE TOWN 1

BROMYARD Town once again paid the price for missed opportunities and lack of belief in this West Midlands Premier Division fixture.

The visitors opened strongly and put Bromyard under pressure for the first 20 minutes but the home team's defence held strong under the guidance of Wayne Hoskins and Joe Maidment.

In the 23rd minute, against the run of play, Gareth McCarthy burst forward from midfield and his cross was handled by a Lye defender in the area. The referee awarded Bromyard a penalty but Tony McLean's spot-kick was easily saved by the keeper. Bromyard's heads seemed to drop and shortly afterwards Lye scored from close range after a great initial save by Aaron O'Malley.

After the break the home side worked much harder creating a few half chances, but found Lye's defence difficult to break down and the scoreline remained the same at the final whistle.
