Spot kick route suits Bromyard Town

BROMYARD TOWN 2, SHAWBURY UNITED 2

(AET - Bromyard won on penalties)BROMYARD Town are through to the next round of the West Midlands Premier Division League Cup after a superb footballing display on a very difficult surface at Delehay Meadow.

The home team dominated this second round game throughout with slick passing but went behind against the run of play on 26 minutes when a speculative shot hit the crossbar and rebounded to a Shawbury attacker for a simple opener.

After the break it was more of the same from Bromyard but it took until the 70th minute for an equaliser when Craig Malins tapped home Rob Dew's cross to take the match into extra-time.

In the first period, the home team edged ahead when Aaron Drake's pass found Alex Taffe unmarked in the box and he scored from close range.

With five minutes left of extra-time Shawbury drew level once again from a goalmouth scramble but the resulting penalty shoot-out was deservedly wrapped up by Bromyard.

Tomorrow (Saturday), Bromyard Town are at home to Dudley Town in the league, kick-off is 3pm.

Bromyard Town Reserves face a Herefordshire League Premier Division fixture away at Woofferton.
