My six year old daughter, Isabella, insisted on a good review for "Buzzing", and who am I to argue?
The show in the Market Theatre on Sunday morning was very much aimed at children, although adults could also learn a great deal about the typical creepy-crawlies of a British back garden.Poet Anneliese Emmans Dean clearly has a passion for bugs. She's even made scientific history by finding rare saw fly larvae as far north as York, where she lives.Saw fly larvae "poo" a great deal, as she explained, and she even brought in a jar of the larvae to prove her point. The kids loved this bit, needless to say.Acccomplished viola player John Rayson accompanied the talk with melodies that made one think of bugs while Anneliese pointed to large photographs on a big screen and described the life-styles of the mini-beasts, often in rhyming verse.Every primary school in the UK should book this enjoyable show.
