SLOWLY but surely, this magnificent show gathers pace, a rising tidal wave of sound and movement that builds and then finally overwhelms everything in its path.

Yes folks, you’d better believe it… this is one humdinger of a production and needs to be seen to be believed.

This was the fourth outing at the Swan Theatre for the guys and girls and provided ample evidence of a growing confidence and clarity of purpose.

Never Forget pays homage to the valour of Britain’s armed forces and their sacrifice over the last century of conflict.

Nevertheless, it also punctuates the theme of remembrance with some sterling renditions of more contemporary music gleaned from top West End shows.

The mainstays are always the company’s stalwarts but there were also some stunning displays by Harlequin Stage School, ably supported by the children of Claines CE Primary School, who once again wowed the capacity audience with their skill and boundless enthusiasm.

The first half finale, featuring standard bearers of the Royal British Legion and Salvation Army buglers, was a magically emotional moment, prompting a reverent minute’s silence without a word of command.

As ever, the comedy routines from Richard Hulbert and Ann Mayor were a mixed basket of curate’s eggs, but compere Paul Bellamy hit the spot nearly every time with his bone-dry humour.

Special mention should be made of the orchestra, out of sight but very much in our minds as they drove the whole thing along. And the laurels should also be heaped upon producer Val Knight, whose guiding hand most certainly has the Midas touch.

These performers are a real credit to Worcester and it was heartening to see a strong city contingent giving them all the support that they so richly deserved.

Never Forget runs until Saturday (November 8) and should not be missed.
