WORCESTER Music Festival could be a winner at this year's UK Festival Awards.

The festival, which took place in September, needs public votes to be in with a chance of being named Best Metropolitan Festival.

More than 250 acts played in venues around the city over three days last month, drawing in thousands of people and raising money for the West Mercia Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre.

Festival chairman, Ant Robbins, said: "We’re really thrilled that Worcester Music Festival has been nominated for the UK Festivals Awards in the Best Metropolitan Festival category. So many people give up their time for free to help create a vibrant and exciting atmosphere of live music and entertainment every year and to win this would be an honour to each and every one involved.”

The criteria for Best Metropolitan Festival includes festivals which work on a "show-by-show basis, or via an all encompassing wristband, that gives people chance to see multiple acts in the comfort of the indoors".

Voting ends on Sunday, October 25.
