Cinderella starring Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean is a breathtaking family extravaganza, what a joy.

From the minute it opened with Torvill & Dean gliding serenely across the stage on inline skates you knew you were in for a treat. This production is packed with fun filled laughter and audience participation 'oh yes it is' gorgeous costumes, magical sets, two beautiful real shetland ponies and current song and dance numbers.

Having seen local boy Andy Ford in panto here for the last few years I was slightly anxious about his absence - why? New Zealand comedian and actor Jarred Christmas as Buttons absolutely smashed it with his subtle banter, fresh jokes and everyone shouting out Ki-Ora Buttons at the appropriate time.

Rhiannon Chesterman was the diminutive Cinders who grew in confidence throughout the performance.

If its sparkle you are looking for its here in abundance Blair Gibson as Prince Charming and Samuel Holmes as Dandini light up the stage, not to be outdone though are the two wonderful ugly sisters Wasabi (Tim Huson) and Saffron (Charles Brunton) whose numerous outfits delight all.

The talented dancers are from Bristol School of Performing Arts and Bristol School of Dancing.

The stars of the show are the Fairy Godparents, Jane Torvill as Queen Juniper and Christopher Dean as King Crispin who magically take care of Cinderella. Chris endeared himself to the locals with his use of phrases such as 'my luvvers' and when he and Jane did a spine tingaling Bolero routine the theatre erupted.

Get your skates on and book your tickets now, you will not be disappointed.

Runs until Sunday, 8th January at the Bristol Hippodrome.
