STRINGS and slides will be the order of play at The Artrix in Bromsgrove, with a show that could fairly trace its origins back to a tent.

Back in 2009, musician Phillip Henry, who many now acclaim as one of the finest slide guitarists and harmonica players in the UK, decided to take suffering for his art to a new level.

He moved into a tent in South Devon, with only a car to his name and a five year plan to earn a living through music.

A spokesman said: "Soon after he met the talented fiddle singer Hannah Martin and they recognised an instant musical connection. "Since then, the duo have embarked on a tuneful journey which has taken them to Glastonbury Festival, supporting Show of Hands at the Royal Albert Hall and winning ‘Best Duo’ at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards."

In October 2015, Phillip and Hannah released their CD ‘Watershed’, their third studio album.

The spokesman added: "Described by folk legend Seth Lakeman as ‘authentic, haunting roots music from a first class duo’ their appearance at Artrix on Friday February 3 is a must-see for any acoustic music fan."

Tickets are at www.artrix.co.uk or on 01527 577330.
