ROCK 'n Roll will never die, so goes the old song, and as if to prove it two long dead pop stars will apparently be gracing the stage of the Evesham Arts Centre.

It's a a double bill of tribute acts, featuring Darren Paige as Roy Orbison and Marc Robinson as Buddy Holly, both finding the beat with the Counterfeit Crickets.

A spokesman said: "Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly both grew up in the same part of Texas, recorded early work in the same studio in New Mexico and even at one point recorded the same songs.

"Roy Orbison went on to write so many great songs including Only the Lonely and Crying, while Buddy Holly's short career earned him a place in Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Artist of all Time."

The spokesman added: "Darren Paige and Marc Robinson have built successful careers dedicated to Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly respectively, each performing all over Great Britain and around the world. Marc Robinson's performance as Buddy Holly in Evesham last year went down a storm in front of a full house. Now these two great musicians are on the same bill - backed by the Counterfeit Crickets - for an uplifting two-hour show that will entertain audiences with all the hits and more."

"Will Rock 'n' Roll ever die? That'll be the day.

The music starts at 7.30pm on Sunday July 9. Tickets on 01386 446944.
