MUSIC lovers should get ready for the “Best Ever Folk Festival for Upton upon Severn”, according to event chairman, Helen Ablitt.

From live acts and concerts to dancing in the streets, the mix will be right to attract big crowds, this May.

Helen said: With 57 artists, 58 Morris sides and a variety of other entertainers the Street Dancing, Concerts in the Parish Church and the Star and ceilidhs in the Memorial Hall, it will be magnificent.

“As in other years the streets near the waterfront will be closed and alive with dancing and other free entertainment throughout the weekend. A thriving market takes advantage of the street closures with ‘something for everyone.”

She added: “There will also be a series of competitions staged at the festival including acoustic singing, song writing and clog dancing. “Special mention has to be made of the Morris procession at noon on Sunday which this year will include members of the Sealed Knot in costume and with equipment. Also the pubs around the town centre will be alive with music and singing sessions.”

The festival runs from Friday May 4 until Monday May 7, and tickets for concerts and camping on the nearby sports field can be obtained from the Upton Tourist Information Office (01684 594200 or from: info@visitthemalverns.org).
