ONE of the world’s greatest concert organists, Australian star Thomas Heywood, will be at St Martin’s Church in London Road, Worcester, tomorrow.

A spokesman said: “He returns for another of his highly popular concerts of great orchestral classics played on the fabulous organ of St Martin’s.”

Shirley Scott, the concerts administrator at St Martin’s, said: “The Thomas Heywood Organ Concert has been an annual event for some years now, and some people travel many miles to Worcester specially for it.

“We’re so privileged to be able to welcome such an international star, who really loves playing the organ in St Martin’s Church.”

She added: “His programme includes orchestral classics by Handel, including Air from the Water Music, Mozart’s Adagio from his Clarinet Concerto, and Strauss, the Radetsky March, as well as two giants from the organ repertoire - Bach’s Fantasia in G major and Guilmant’s Sonata No 5 in C minor.

“It all comes with a sophisticated video presentation so that you can see those amazing hands and feet! Thomas has a big personality and always has an amusing story or anecdote to tell. Audiences always leave exhilarated, thoroughly entertained and amazed at his phenomenal talent.”

The concert begins at 7.30pm. Doors open at 6.45pm.
