Theatre is venue for piano recitals

MALVERN Theatres is to host the inaugural Yamaha International Piano Series.

This series is a first for Malvern and for Yamaha and will feature four internationally acclaimed pianists: Peter Donohoe, John Lill, Noriko Ogawa and Nikolai Demidenko.

Yamaha pianos are increasingly used at international venues and are played by many of the world's leading pianists.

Spokesman for Yamaha Mike Ketley said: "We're thrilled to be partnering Malvern Theatres. This series allows us to present some of the world's finest pianists in an idyllic setting."

The international piano series opens in the Autumn with a concert by Peter Donohoe on September 18.

A favourite at the Malvern Festival, he will perform six of Bach's preludes and fugues, Beethoven's late piano sonata Op.110 and his own interpretation of Liszt's B minor Sonata.

The series continues with concerts by John Lill on October 30, Noriko Ogawa on February 27, 2009, and concludes with Nikolai Demidenko on April 3, 2009.
