Ripping fun at theatre

1:50pm Tuesday 22nd July 2008

THE English boarding-school comedy Daisy Pulls It Off is coming to Malvern Theatres next month.

The smash West End hit is an affectionate parody of boarding school life, the ripping, spiffing, jolly hockey sticks tale of school girl Daisy Meredith and her adventures at Grangewood School For Young Ladies.

It is an enchanting and nostalgic story full of midnight feasts, hockey matches and adventures that owes much to ever-popular children's books about boarding school life.

The gymslip-clad heroine Daisy is an elementary school girl who wins a scholarship to Grangewood and who is forced to overcome the snobbish predjudice of both pupils and teachers. However, with the help of her chum Trixie, she forms a secret society, searches for missing treasure and finds time to fit in a cliff-top rescue and a jolly good game of hockey.

Daisy Pulls It Off by Denise Deegan features familiar faces from Emmerdale, Eastenders, The Bill and Allo Allo including actress Carly Hillman(Eastenders) and Julia Mallam(Emmerdale). This between-the-wars school girl adventure is an ideal family production with lots of laughs and surprises.

It opens at Malvern Theatres on Monday, August 11 and runs until Saturday, August 16. Tickets range from £14-£22 with under 25 s £8.
