New club opens its doors

12:56pm Thursday 21st August 2008

SEXY RnB, funky house and luscious Latin grooves are the tunes being lined up by top DJs for the launch a new Hereford club night simply called I.

Due to take place on the first and last Fridays of every month upstairs at the Imperial, I begins on Friday, August 29.

DJ Solange, aka Martin Scully, will join Umbrella Factory DJs Rich Palmer and Demus at the decks.

As well as DJing at various prestigious London clubs, including the Ministry of Sound, Scully spent several summers spinning decks in Ibiza.

Rich Palmer, from Bromyard, is known throughout Herefordshire as both DJ and former band member of Mars Bonfire and Stryder.

Demus, the oldest of the three DJs, is well versed in keeping the crowds entertained.

He has played reggae in Manchester, rock steady in London, dancehall in Edinburgh and everything from house to R'n'B in Malvern. He will be playing Latin tunes for I.

Organiser Nick Herbert said: “This is a great opportunity for the smartly-dressed of Hereford to come and have a free glass of champagne and enjoy great sounds supplied by wonderful DJs. We are also setting out to create a seductive ambience with sexy lighting and a reverberating bass sound.”

Doors at I, upstairs at the Imperial on Widemarsh Street, open 9pm to 2am. Entry £5/£4 concession. Visit www.myspace.com/umbrellafactory for more information.
