VITAL Spark, the Malvern-based West Gallery choir, has just returned from a successful first trip overseas.
The choir visited Paris, where they gave two concerts led by musical director, John Williams.
The first was at the Chapelle St Jeanne in Antony, a suburb seven miles south-west of the centre of Paris.
The choir's performance of the lively church music of Georgian times, accompanied by fiddle, concertina, bassoon and clarinet, generated an enthusiastic reception, as witnessed by buoyant CD sales and dancing in the aisles.
The second concert was at St Michael's Anglican Church in the centre of Paris, close to the British Embassy in the exclusive Madeleine district. The choir was enthusiastically received by a mainly English-speaking audience.
At both concerts, the choir was joined by local church choristers for some joint songs. The whole weekend was arranged by Heather Joyce, a former choir member and Malvern resident now residing in Paris.
