MALVERN Priory will be the spectacular setting for a performance of Haydn’s Creation tomorrow, Saturday July 4, at 7.30pm.
Haydn’s Creation is regarded as one of the world’s most populat oratorios, second only to the Messiah, and has been universally acclaimed since its first performance.
The concert, by the Birmingham Festival Choral Society, will include regular accompanist organist Kevin Gill and a trio of soloists. Gwawr Edwards is one of Wales’ leading young sopranos, who sang recently at Wembley Stadium. She has also sung with Dame Kiri te Kanawa. Tenor Stephen Newlove is a widely experienced choral singer who has sung with the Britten Singers and who also teaches and composes. Adrian Blakely, bassist, is a singer who has performed with the BFCS in the past. The choir will be conducted by Patrick Larley.
Spokesman for the BFCS Brian Dickens said Malvern was a favourite venue for the choir.
“We look forward to having another packed audience at Malvern Priory - a venue that is ideally suited to choral singing,” he said.
Tickets for the performance cost £12 with concessions £10 and £5. They can be booked through Malvern Tourist Information Centre on 01684 892289 or paid for at the door.
