FOLLOWING his much acclaimed television series Stewart Lee’s Comedy Vehicle comedian Stewart Lee returns to the live comedy circuit and is at Malvern Theatres tomorrow, Saturday, January 30, with a brand new show.
In his last award-winning live show 41st Best Stand-up Ever Lee relentlessly exploited his position in a Channel 4 poll of comedians and had jokes about sardines and entomologists.
Stewart gives us some hints as to what to expect in his new show, entitled If You Want A Milder Comedian Please Ask For One.
The show starts with a high street coffee chain and ends with a pear cider which is 100 percent disappointment. Expect some punchy stuff near the beginning, inexplicable hostility towards relatively innocuous figures, sudden and/or gradual shifts in tone, velocity and volume and references to English Heritage, Top Gear, the Olympics, emigration, prawns, piglets, and Iggy Pop.
He has been described by Ricky Gervais as “the funniest, most cliche-free comedian on the circuit” and The Times described him as “the most exciting comedian in the country bar none.”
Stewart Lee is a stand-up, writer and director. His television work includes Fist of Fun, This Morning with Richard and Judy, Attention Scum and Time Trumpet, Steward Lee’s Comedy Vehicle, all for BBC2 and script editing The Harry Hill Show.
His theatre credits include Interiors with Johnny Vegas, Boswell and Johnson Late But Live and co-writing and directing Richard Thomas’ award-winning Jerry Springer The Opera for the National Theatre.
He has performed as a stand-up all over the world and released 4 DVDs.
The show starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £14.50. Contact Malvern Theatres on 01684 892277.
