Concerts to visit opposite ends of musical spectrum
12:00pm Thursday 8th March 2012 in Latest By Neil Watts
TWO concerts at Herefordshire’s centre for the arts will highlight very different parts of the musical spectrum this month.
On Wednesday, March 14 The Courtyard sees the Hereford Concert Society presenting the Kandinsky Piano Trio from 7.30pm.
They are considered one of the most sought after chamber music groups in the country and are made up of three prize-winning chamber musicians; Katya Apekisheva on piano, Fenella Bartonon violin and Alexei Sarkissov on cello.
Their programme will include Beethoven’s Piano Trio in G Major, Schumann’s Piano Trio in F Major and Rachmaninov’s Trio Elegiaque No 1.
Rachel Lyn Harrington and the new All Girl Honky Tonk Band follow with all-new country ballads, western honky tonk swing and early rock ‘n’ roll on Thursday, March 15 at 8pm.
Born and raised in Oregon, Rachel aims to create music that captures the stories and heritage of The West.
Her sound is influenced by a range of sources, from Loretta Lyn to Otis Redding, and reflected in some of the girls’ favourite country and rockabilly covers.
