Society is hot topic
EVESHAM Operatic and Dramatic Society (EODS) has had one of its productions nominated for a regional musical award.
Ultimate 80’s, which had a five-night run at Evesham’s Arts Centre in September last year, has received a nomination in the Best Musical category for the West Midlands division of NODA, the association which provides professional support to amateur theatre groups.
The show, which was conceived and directed by Alison Roberts, follows the fortunes of a working-class family from the 1980’s through a selection of iconic songs and dances from the “ultimate” decade of pop.
Roberts said: “We are thrilled to have been nominated, especially as we, and our audiences, enjoyed the show so much.
“We are sure that our next production, The Hot Mikado, will achieve the same high standards our audiences are coming to expect. It’s a great show with some amazing vocal numbers.”
EODS will find out the results of the nominations at an award ceremony in Sutton Coldfield Town Hall on Sunday, April 15.
In the meantime, audiences can catch the society’s latest production, The Hot Mikado, at Evesham Arts Centre between Tuesday and Saturday, March 20 and 24.
This update of The Hot Mikado takes place in the mythical village of Titi-Pu, where a young trumpet player is on the run from his overeager fiancée and searching for the woman who stole his heart.
Tickets cost £12 , concessions £10, £36 for a family of four or £15 for two on Tuesday only, available from The Almonry on 01386 446944 or online at eveshamartscentre.co.uk.
