THE opening night of Grease in Bristol did not quite go according to plan when early into Act One a number of the male ensemble were unable to continue after being caught by scenery. However, the show went on albeit with a reduced cast, in addition faulty microphones noticeably during You’re the One that I Want at the end of the Second Act spoilt the classic number.

Nevertheless, judging by the reaction of the audience at the end it was clear that mishaps or not everyone enjoyed the show.

Musical Director Barney Ashworth and his six piece band dressed in pink jackets got the audience going from the start with a terrific overture.

One of the shows highlights was the performance of Robin Cousins as Teen Angel, who received the biggest applause of the night.

Rydell High, the T-Birds, Pink Ladies, Danny and Sandy are why after all these years Grease is still one of our favourite musicals.
