Extraordinary recital on Sunday

SOMETHING out of the ordinary can be expected at a recital to be given at the Elgar Birthplace Museum on Sunday.

The Life and Loves of Thomas Hardy will be presented in the Carice Room of the Lower Broadheath venue at 3pm, featuring readings of his poems by Gerald Finzi and a rarely heard piano duet arrangement from Elgar’s Serenade for Strings.

The singer is Michael Chester, an amateur baritone, who will be joined by pianists Ruth Melhuish and Christine Williams.

Admission is free but donations for the Music Therapy Works charity will be welcomed.
