George Clooney has shrugged off rumours that he's gay.

The Hollywood star, who is dating former WWE star Stacy Keibler, told The Advocate the speculation didn't bother him.

"I think it's funny, but the last thing you'll ever see me do is jump up and down, saying, 'These are lies!'" he said.

"That would be unfair and unkind to my good friends in the gay community. I'm not going to let anyone make it seem like being gay is a bad thing."

The Descendants star added: "My private life is private, and I'm very happy in it. Who does it hurt if someone thinks I'm gay? I'll be long dead and there will still be people who say I was gay. I don't give a s***."

George, who is set to star in a one-off version of Dustin Lance Black's gay marriage play 8, also joked about twice being named People's Sexiest Man Alive.

"I'm still shocked that Ryan Gosling didn't get Sexiest Man Alive last year. I thought he worked hard and ran a very solid campaign, so I feel that he was ripped off," he joked of his Ides Of March co-star.

And he said of Shame's Michael Fassbender: "Every guy who saw that movie was like, 'Jesus Christ,' at the exact same time."

He joked that he set the "bar very high" for other actors with his A-List bromance with Brad Pitt.

"People think Brad and I hang out all the time, but the truth is that we see each other very rarely, maybe a couple times a year," he said, but added: "I'm very proud to call him my friend."
