Bill Roache was presented with a special Corrie cake for his 80th birthday
Bill Roache celebrated his 80th birthday with a street party on the set of the show that has been his home for more than half a century.
The actor, who plays strait-laced Ken Barlow in Coronation Street, even had a cake inspired by the show's famous opening credits showing a cat nestling on a rooftop in Weatherfield.
He was joined by co-stars including Jennie McAlpine (Fiz Stape), Andrew Lancel (Frank Foster) and Alison King (Carla Connor).
The actor recently hit the headlines after he claimed to have bedded hundreds of women, including soap legend Pat Phoenix.
His character, a mainstay of the ITV1 soap since its beginning in 1960, has had dozens of relationships in his time on the cobbles, including four marriages.
Roache's son Linus is also an actor and recently appeared in the ITV1 show Titanic, which was created by Downton Abbey supremo Julian Fellowes.
