Ever since Professor Green started co-presenting Channel 5’s Lip Sync Battle, we’ve had one thought.

How amazing would it be to see The Prof and wife Millie Mackintosh take to the stage and go head to head and fight it out to be the ultimate lip-syncer?

But, sadly, the dream might have to stay just that. A dream.

When we spoke to Stephen Manderson at a special Channel 5 press party, we asked whether we’ll be seeing him step out from behind his DJ desk on the hit show and do some lip syncing. But, he said, “No, I can’t dance for s**t!”

What if he was doing battle against Millie?

“Oh my god, that would be bad!” he laughed. “That would be really bad. I mean you’d probably enjoy it but do you know what, you’d have to ask her [if she’d do the show]. I’m not going to answer that for her!”

But being so damn cool, we couldn’t help but ask Prof whether he was nervy about taking the Lip Sync Battle job alongside Mel B – and whether he was worried it would impact his cred.

“Cool people are unashamed, you know what I mean? Being cool doesn’t come from being cool! Being cool kind of makes you a w****e,” he said.

“The amount of love I’ve got for my one liners and stuff every week has been wicked. I’m not a stand-up comedian but being able to have back and forth with the comedians has been really fun, because to me that’s the closest I’ve come to rap battling since I’ve rapped!”

Stephen, who has presented hard-hitting BBC Three documentaries Suicide and Me and Hidden and Homeless, also said that he felt as though he had just recently become an adult.

“There’s a lot wrong with the world and I’m coming of age,” he explained. “I’ve become an adult this year, I think.

“Between the last year and this year – what I’ve encountered and what I’ve had to deal with and what I’ve seen and become aware of – I’d definitely say I’m starting to grow up,” he added. “I think it happens to the best of us!”
