ALL the right musical notes were hit in Worcester last year, with sell-out performances, huge names and local heroes all putting in star turns.

Chris Jaeger, chief executive of Worcester Live, which runs the Swan Theatre and Huntingdon Hall, said there had been various highlights throughout the year.

“For me, Mike Harding was wonderful. He’s still absolutely brilliant and outrageous, and he played to a sell-out crowd in March.

“Curtis Stigers was absolutely fantastic. He was playing stadiums at one point – he had some big hits and was a huge name.”

At the Swan Theatre Chris pointed to the well respected British singer Elkie Brooks.

The two-night stand from the larger than life Take Fat saw the theatre packed out for their homecoming gigs.

Chris said: “The Counterfeit Stones come year after year – I think they’re better than the original, I just love it.

“Talon keep coming back and they just do the business.”

He now hopes to continue bringing top quality musical entertainment to the Faithful City in 2013.

“For me, it’s a constant privilege to be able to bring the arts to the city.”
