LOCAL director Eric Jones is looking for budding actors to take part in his forthcoming production of The Importance of Being Earnest.

The Importance of Being Earnest is probably Oscar Wilde’s most famous play and features a host of characters including the infamous Lady Bracknell.

It tells the story of two elegant young men who are madly in love with two delightful young ladies, and all the problems of etiquette which got in the way of courting a young girl in the late 1890’s - especially if there was a grumpy old aunt in the way.

There’s also the butler, the doddery vicar, an absent minded-governess, the lawyer and the gardener.

The Importance of Being Earnest will be performed at Pershore’s Number 8 Community Centre in July, and Eric will be holding a read-through for anyone interested in auditioning for the play on Monday, February 11.

Eric has directed plays and musicals for many years and since coming to live in Evesham in 2006, he has directed pantomimes at Number 8 and several outdoor theatre productions at The Country Park in Evesham, including The Canterbury Tales, A Man for All Seasons and Treasure Island.

Most recently, he co-produced and directed Singin’ in the Rain for Pershore Operatic and Dramatic Society (PODS).

Anyone interested in taking part in the read-through is asked to contact Eric on 01386 48788 or email ericjones41@hotmail.co.uk.
