A NEW amateur musical group in Malvern will stage Julian Slade and Dorothy Reynolds’s award-winning hit musical comedy Salad Days later this month.
Set in the 1950s, Salad Days tells the story of fresh-faced graduate Tim who must now find a job and is sent off to various eccentric family members for ‘work experience’.
But while with fellow graduate Jane, a chance meeting leads to a magic piano that makes people dance.
Unfortunately this doesn’t go unnoticed and they soon attract attention from unwanted sources.
The show features a number of toe-tapping hits including We Said We Wouldn’t Look Back, I Sit In The Sun, Look At Me Oh! and We’re Looking For A Piano!
The show will be staged locally by Malvern Entertainment Group (MEG), who managed to secure the performance rights, and a personal message of good luck from the composer’s estate, despite the production currently showing in London’s West End.
MEG founder member, Emma Burrows, said: “This funny show is very relevant for a 2013 audience.
“Written just after the Second World War, Salad Days carries a message of hope for the future, and of course lots of jolly, toe-tapping, memorable songs.
“The cast suit their parts really well and have been working hard so I hope this return will be well supported.”
Salad Days runs at Malvern’s Coach House Theatre between Wednesday and Saturday, February 13 and 16 at 7.30pm with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.
Seats are limited so advance purchase is strongly advised.
Tickets are available from Dolly’s Sweet Shop, in Church Walk, Great Malvern, or by calling 07515 483560.
