THREE very weird witches are the stars of a stage adaptation of the Terry Pratchett Discworld story Wyrd Sisters on stage at The Conquest Theatre in Bromyard on December 18 and 19.
The sixth Discworld novel about Terry Pratchett’s celebrated coven of witches has elements of Macbeth and Hamlet but this is Shakespeare jumped on, squished and turned upside down in Terry Pratchett’s inimitable style.
This Christmas treat will be performed by the Conquest’s senior youth theatre and performances are at 7.30pm with tickets £8, £7 and £5.
This stage adaptation by Stephen Briggs has Shakespearean elements including a wicked Duke and Duchess, the ghost of a murdered king and a band of strolling players. There is also a fool, a demon, lots of soldiers and many other wonderful Pratchett cameos.
The story is set in Lancre, a land in peril, and follows the meddling attempts by three witches, Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg and Magrat Garlick, to save the kingdom by getting rid of the wicked Duke and Duchess and reinstating the rightful heir to the throne.
The senior youth theatre’s production has been sponsored by Willowbrook Adjustable Bed, Dean James Range Cooker Specialist and other local supporters.
Contact the Conquest Theatre on 01885 488575 for tickets.
