Dress up for Rocky Horror Show

THE outrageous classic The Rocky Horror Show is coming to Malvern Theatres.

One of the first show’s to inspire audiences to dress up and join in The Rocky Horror Show, written by Richard O’Brian, was first staged in 1973 and remains as popular as ever with legions of devoted fans.

It is in Malvern for one week only from Monday, February 8, and stars the award-winning David Bedella as Frank ‘n’ Furter. Simon Shepherd stars alongside as the narrator in this riot of a musical.

Follow squeaky-clean sweethearts Brad and Janet on an adventure they will never forget. During a storm the couple are forced to seek shelter at a castle where they meet some of its very bizarre residents, including trans-sexual mad scientist Dr Frank ‘n’ Furter.

Bursting at the seams with timeless classics including Sweet Transvestite, Damn It Janet and of course the pelvic-thrusting Time Warp.

The show is a non-stop party and for Rocky Horror virgins here are a few tips. Dressing up although not essential will make you feel less conspicuous - everyone else will be clad in basques, suspenders, fishnets, black leather and high heels. Don’t be afraid to dance - everyone gets on their feet for the Time Warp and don’t worry if you don’t know the moves, the lyrics will tell you exactly when to jump left or right and when to get ready for that all important pelvic thrust.

And remember to come prepared. Rocky Horror audiences need to bring props in order to join in. Essentials include a newspaper(to be worn over the head when Brad and janet get caught in the rain), a torch (to be used during the song ‘There’s a Light Over at Frankenstein’s place), playing cards and a pair of rubber gloves. You’ll work out when they’re needed and what to do with them.

Rocky Horror regulars are reminded to check when they arrive that any props they do bring along are permitted.

Performances are at 8pm Monday to Thursday and 6pm and 9pm Friday and Saturday. Tickets range from £16 to £32.50.
