In stitches: Comedy star Joe Pasquale is joined by stage star Robert Powell for the stage production of Doctor in the House.
ONE of Britain’s best-loved funnymen and an awardwinning star of stage and screen are coming together on the Malvern stage.
Joe Pasquale and Robert Powell star in Doctor in the House at Malvern Theatres next week.
Inexperienced medical student Simon Sparrow (Pasquale) is beginning his five-year internship at St Swithin’s Teaching Hospital.
Continually running foul of the irascible head surgeon Sir Lancelot Spratt (Powell), Sparrow’s social life is spiced up when he is taken under the wings of two student repeaters.
Joe Pasquale has continued to delight audiences with his live stand-up tours for almost 20 years and along the way he has voiced characters for Hollywood movies such as Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties and Horton Hears A Who.
He has also toured in several theatrical productions.
Robert Powell was nominated for a Bafta award and collected the TV Times Best Actor award for his performance as Jesus Christ in the series Jesus of Nazareth.
In early 2005 he became a regular in hospital drama Holby City, where he remained for six years before leaving to return to theatre.
The cast includes Emma Barton, Gay Soper and Tom Butcher.
Doctor In The House is directed by Ian Talbot who was artistic director at Regents Park Open Air Theatre for 20 years and was awarded an OBE in 2007 for his work there.
Doctor in the House is at Malvern Theatres from Monday, April 2, to Saturday, April 7.
Tickets start at £12, under 26s £8.
