AN AWARD-winning village pub will close next week.

The Wellington will shut its doors tomorrow (Wednesday). It has already stopped serving food.

John Gallagher, the pub’s manager who has run the business with his son Edward for the last year, said it is no longer “financially viable” to keep teh pub in Wellington, near Hereford, open.

He told the Hereford Times: “It’s not a decision we’ve taken lightly and we are disappointed at having to close.

“We want to thank everyone who has loyally supported us over the last 12 months.”

The pub has won various awards for its food and drink over the years.

Flavours of Herefordshire named it GastroPub of the Year in 2007 and 2008, as well as Pub of the Year in 2005 and 2006
