Wellington Primary School "justifiably proud" after Ofsted report

WELLINGTON Primary School has been classed as “good” in its latest Ofsted inspection.

Inspector Kathy Hooper said that it has made rapid improvements in teaching and learning while achievements of pupils in all subjects is above average.

“Pupils greatly enjoy school,” she said.

“They develop good attitudes to learning and are considerate to others.

The inspector said the governing body challenges the school well and benefits from the headteacher’s open style of management.

Teachers were praised for reviewing and improving their practice and morale is high, while weaknesses in the early years foundation stage identified in the previous report have been successfully addressed.

Wellington, however, is not yet an "outstanding" school with areas requiring improvement including challenging more able pupils and ensuring teachers personalise their planning.

Headteacher Wendy Harrison and governors’ chairman Shaun Losh said that they were justifiably proud of staff and pupils who worked hard to achieve the positive outcome.
