LIFE-SAVERS: The business owners with the new defribillator.
A NUMBER of businesses in Ledbury have clubbed together to provide the town with vital life-saving equipment.
Road haulage company ABE Ledbury learnt the benefits of using a defibrillator to improve heart attack survival rates as part of their ongoing training programme for the Drivers’ Certificate of Professional Competence.
As well as adding to their first aid skills, they and a number of other businesses have worked with the Community Heartbeat project to instal the specialist equipment for the benefit of the whole town.
Neighbouring Bromyard Road companies Bevisol, European Aviation, the Helping Hand Company, Hills of Ledbury, Jaga Heating, QCold, Sequani, Watsons Fuels and Wye Fruit all helped to share the £2,000 cost for the equipment.
Chief executive Clive Brooks said: “This is of personal significance as I lost my father to a heart attack and had a defibrillator been available it would likely have saved his life.”
The defibrillator can be used by anyone in need as the emergency services can give the security code to those dialling 999 in order to access the kit.
