A NEW service has been launched to take some of the confusion out of finding the right type of care.

The Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) is behind the Find Me Good Care scheme - a service that offers a direct way to find care for anyone needing it, and will help groups including the elderly, the disabled and people with substance misuse problems.

Andrea Sutcliffe, chief executive officer with SCIE said: “We know the care system can be confusing and research has confirmed that most people are unaware of their options.

“We have brought together comprehensive advice and guidance to help people take those first steps in navigating the care and support system.“

Hereford woman Vanessa Ballance, 56, experienced the confusion of trying to get care for her mother, Vicky, who had dementia.

“I felt pretty alone and as though I was up against a confusing system,” said Vanessa.

“There are many people trying to look after elderly relatives, run a home, look after children and work, and they are exhausted."
