Gay marriage debate in Herefordshire
4:00pm Wednesday 2nd January 2013 in News
A DEBATE on gay marriage will be held at Leominster Priory on January 28.
Mike Bourke, former bishop of Wolverhampton, will lead the debate at the Hereford Diocese Inclusive Church Forum’s open meeting.
Earlier this month the government announced plans to make it illegal for the Church of England and Church in Wales to offer same-sex marriages when legislation enables them elsewhere.

It was one of the better things that the last Govt did to bring in civil unions, it's a small and overdue step to make that marriage.
There's a lot of nonsense spouted about unnatural and out of kilter with history - it's time to move on and simply enjoy the benefits of relaxing about what other people choose to do in the privacy of their own lives.
Bring on same sex marriage and women bishops and recognise that life is better if we just give a bit more and interfere a bit less

Imagine if I went to Spain and demanded the shops stay open during the siesta, or that I share a bed with my unwed girlfriend in Dubai.
You join a club, you follow the rules.

And could i add that this country has for too long been living in the past,
Its about time this country 'woke up' and started living in the present,
Long gone are the days of looking down on people just because they live different life's.
Everybody is equal in my book and has long as their beliefs don't effect my life and what i believe then that's fine

We now live in a (UK) society were excessive tolerence has led to a "do as you like" culture.
There's no restrictions on anything because if there is, some minority group complains.
There is no incentive to behave or use common sense because you don't have to.
There is absolutely no sense of responsibility, everything is someone elses fault. Being fat, not working, crime.... the list goes on.

I take the view that we are all equal and if a minority group want a church marriage then it's fine and dandy by me.
But, for a huge number of people, they are against this idea and just because they are against it, it shouldn't automatically follow that they are in some way homophobic.
The problem with our hysterical society is as soon as anyone emerges and says anything in opposition to our new way of designing society, they are screamed at and branded, bigots racists and homophobic.
We are one step away from the hysteria that existed during the Salem Witch Trials when everyone who wanted to live and survive a burning at the stake, shouted 'Witch'.
Me? I couldn't care bloody less. Anything that promotes happiness and goodwill is fine by me.
