Ledbury man burned in garden

A LEDBURY man has been severely burned by an out of control bonfire in the town.

Fire crews, police and ambulance staff arrived at a property in Falcon Lane at 1.30pm on Sunday after reports that a person was on fire.

They found a man with severe burns believed to have been caused by a fireball from a garden bonfire.

Fire crews extinguished the blaze and the man was flown by air ambulance to Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Earlier this week his condition was described as “critical but stable”.

Station commander Martin Lown, from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, said they are still trying to establish exactly how the man's injuries were caused.
