Card job boost for Herefordshire firm

THE county’s first big business deal of 2013 has been done and puts a go-getting firm at the top of its specialist market.

Allpay has confirmed “full approval” from MasterCard to manufacture and personalise its PayPass “contactless” products.

Cardholders can make purchases up to a certain value by touching their card to a reader in participating shops, without the need for a signature or PIN number.

Allpay now meets the technical specifications to offer the full range of MasterCard products, including dual PayPass and chip and PIN-enabled payment cards accepted worldwide.

Commercial director Sara West said the company was “thrilled” to have been approved as one of only three companies in the UK to fully manufacture, chip embed and personalise the dual interface cards for both MasterCard and Visa.

“The PayPass rollout means we are able to offer our client base a comprehensive product and will form part of our larger ongoing expansion plan," she said.

Marshall Haldane, operations director, said Allpay’s certification demonstrated the company’s strong technical abilities and ongoing investment in innovative solutions.

Good news - let's hope 2013 brings more good news for local firms, rather than the bleak forecasts that newspapers have been predicting.
