Dan Allum gets set to cook healthy food on a budget
A RUGBY player who suffered a serious back injury and went on to win the TV gameshow Winter Wipeout is cooking up his latest challenge.
Dan Allum, from Castle Frome, is now aiming to inspire students to learn to cook healthy food on a budget.
BBC One viewers saw Dan triumph in a series of wacky challenges on the course in Argentina and now the 20-year-old will try to help students stand the heat of the kitchen.
Dan, who is also a keen magician, is the brains behind Come Dine With Me – At Uni and is set to create a series of web-isodes for students.
The project, inspired by Channel 4’s Come Dine With Me, is designed to change misconceptions that students are incapable of cooking healthy food.
Keen cook Dan hopes to give five students, initially from one university, the chance to take part in the show while teaching the importance of a good diet.
Each participant will be given a strict £25 budget with which they must purchase all the required ingredients to prepare a three-course meal for themselves and their guests.
Dan will film, edit and post each dinner party on his YouTube account, and syndicate them across universities.
Funding for the project has come from O2 Think Big.
