Boundary changes meeting

PROPOSED changes to Herefordshire ward boundaries that could have an impact on Ledbury are due to be discussed by councillors today.

The Local Government Boundary Commission has recommended that the number of county councillors is reduced from 58 to 53. Ledbury is currently a single-member ward that returns three councillors, but the commission proposed to divide the town into north, south and west wards, each returning one councillor.

Despite representations from all three of the town’s county councillors, opposing the proposed change, the commission is pressing ahead with its recommendation.

The council was due to meet at 10.30am at the Council Chamber, Brockington, Hafod Road, Hereford. Members are being recommended to accept the commission’s recommendations.
