Cash for military link-up groups

CASH grants of up to £250,000 are on offer for projects that strengthen ties between the armed forces and the wider community.

But would-be bidders have to get in quick because they’ve only got until the end of the month.

The Community Covenant Grant Scheme was set up to support the Armed Forces Community Covenant that Herefordshire Council signed up to last year to promote greater understanding between the general public and the military.

Funded by the Ministry of Defence, the scheme will consider applications for projects that “demonstrate a benefit” to both the armed forces and the civilian community, and promote closer ties with, or a greater understanding of, the military in the local community.

The grant scheme considers applications for funding between £100 and £250,000.

An application can be submitted by any part of the community – such as volunteer groups, charities or public bodies such as schools or statutory services.

The deadline for applications is 5pm on January 31 and details of the application process can be had by calling 01432 260753.
