Leftover sprouts boost charity

GOING, GOING, GREEN: Dan Allam’s spontaneous Christmas sprout auction raised £100.
A MAGICIAN has auctioned two leftover Brussels sprouts from his Christmas dinner on eBay for £100 after attracting 15,000 views.
Dan Allam, aged 21, of Ledbury, decided to list the unpopular vegetables on the auction site to help a charity after polishing off the rest of his plate on Christmas Day.
He uploaded a picture of the sprouts and was stunned when he began receiving dozens of messages from prospective buyers.
The organic sprouts, which were handpicked from his garden on Christmas Eve, have been kept fresh in iced water, and the cash is going to charity Make-A-Wish Foundation. He said: “It’s one of the most bizarre things I’ve ever done – I thought it would raise £1.”
The charity helps wishes come true for children and young people, aged up to 17, who have life threatening illnesses.
Mr Allam was handed £10,000 after winning BBC1 gameshow Winter Wipeout last February.
