A TEENAGER was seriously injured after the quad bike he was riding was involved in a collision with a car this morning.

The collision occurred at 9.35am at the junction of the B4214 and the A4103 at Bishop's Frome but the female driver of the black Range Rover was not injured.

The 19-year-old rider of the quad bike ended up in the road and was immobilised by paramedics using a neck collar, spinal board and splint. He was anaesthetised by a doctor before being flown to Bristol Frenchay Hospital for further assessment and treatment for his head injury and arm and leg fractures.

The road was closed until just before 4pm.

Police wish to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, especially an elderly couple who were following the quad bike and picked up a dog which was riding on the bike.
