Visitor guide is launched

TOWNS like Newent will be hoping for a tourism boost from the launch of a visitor guide aimed at attracting more visitors to the area.

Forest of Dean District Council has produced 40,000 copies of the free guide, which it will be distributing to hotels, airports and tourist information centres all over the country.

Coun Patrick Molyneux, leader of Forest of Dean District Council, said: “Tourism is a very important part of our local economy – in 2011 it accounted for seven per cent of our local employment and generated £125 million.

“This latest guide has provided the opportunity to drive more visitors to the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley area, supporting local business and jobs and boosting the local economy.”

The guide is also available at visitforestofdean.co.uk.
