Lager giant comes to Herefordshire to develop cider idea

CIDER produced in Herefordshire will be taking on some of the big players in the market.

Bevisol in Ledbury is producing cider for brewing giant Carling which is set to challenge the market enjoyed by Stella Artois’ Cidre.

Carling British Cider, will be launched into the national spotlight by a TV and internet advertising campaign.

Molson Coors, owner of Carling, has spent 13 months developing the new cider with Bevisol.

“We feel proud and privileged that our small company produces ciders for major international companies,” said Chris Newall, managing director of Bevisol, based at Orchard Business Park.

“The fact they come to Herefordshire for their supply is down to this county’s reputation for producing the best ciders and reflects the experience and knowledge we have here.”

The 4.5 per cent ABV premium drink is expected to be launched in March and sold in 500ml and 275ml bottles.

Agree, even Bulmers now is part of a multinational company. I don't drink cider much, but if I did it would be Westons, I am a real ale person and like my pint of Wye Valley now and again.
