Herefordshire businessman hoping cleaning product will shine

Angus Grahame is aiming for a refill revolution.
ANGUS Grahame is taking on multinational superbrands after creating a product he believes will change the way we buy cleaning products.
The Whitney-on-Wye businessman has launched Splosh – an ambitious environmentally- minded venture that claims to be “miles better than recycling”.
Instead of buying liquid cleaning products from shop shelves, customers buy refillable Splosh bottles and order concentrate refills online when they run out.
The company claims its way cuts packaging waste by up to 95 per cent.
Angus worked with British chemists for more than two years to reformulate products such as laundry detergent and floor cleaners into suitable concentrates.
“Our competitors are multibillion pound conglomerates,” said Angus.
“But compared to Splosh I think their business models are inefficient, inconvenient for customers and really bad for the environment.”

But also that when we toss the bottle in the recycling and get that warm feeling we think that the bottle goes away and gets turned back into a bottle which we use again. If that did happen you've only got to think about the washing, costs and energy for processing, transport etc - still a bit better probably than making a new one.
But in reality most of the plastic we "recycle" goes out of the country - it might get processed into something useful it might not (might get dumped, burned who knows) - and at best it may end up in some low grade product - fence posts maybe.
It's a nice idea - he will have his work cut out given what people like to buy and who he's up against.

Lets take a bottle of bleach, it's a plastic bottle with bent top and a screw cap. Now if you were to reuse that bottle - you still have to go and but a plastic bottle of bleach to refill the squeezy one you have at home.

The refills are liquid (water soluable) sachets that you add water too. Good idea, not too sure if I see it taken off, but it certainly could.
I'm more keen on the idea now I know how it works - leave to the HT to miss out all the detail as usual ;)
