Eric the dragon taking shape
A SIX-and-a-half foot dragon is on the move.
Blacksmiths at Oldfield Forge, based at Garway Hill, spent the last 18 months designing and creating the iron dragon that weighs 30kg and has more than 3,000 scales.
The beast, nicknamed Eric by the blacksmiths, will soon travel to his new home in Grosmont.
Nicky Heath, who runs the forge with husband Aaron, said Eric has been “a labour of love”.
“He has turned many heads when visitors come to the workshop – he is certainly a talking point.
“Eric has become part of the team and will be sadly missed when he makes his final journey to his new home.”
