RESURFACING work is to take place on the A49 in Hereford later this month.

The work along Edgar Street will start on Monday, February 18 and will be completed by early March.

All activity will take place between 8pm and 7am Monday to Friday, meaning that the A49 will be closed between Edgar Street and the Newtown Road roundabout.

Access to the A49 from side roads will also be restricted during the closures.

However, residents will be able to access their properties and the road will be fully open during the day and at weekends.

When the A49 is closed, northbound traffic will be diverted at the Edgar Street roundabout onto Eign Street.

Traffic should then continue onto the Mounument pub roundabout and turn onto Yazor Road and then Grandstand Road, which will lead you back onto the A49.

Southbound traffic will be diverted from the Starting Gate roundabout onto Roman Road.

You should then turn onto Aylestone Hill at the roundabout until its junction with Blueschool Street and continue westbound to its roundabout with the A49.

AS well as the road being resurfaced, work will also include installing tactile paving at the pedestrian crossings, replacing road signs and re-instating road markings and traffic loops.
