A VIOLENT house burglary near Bromyard has earned two men prison sentences totalling 23 years today (Friday).

Wolverhampton Crown Court heard how Robert Richards and Darren Randall smashed their way into Stocking Gobbetts, Whitbourne, in October 2011, to steal cash and drugs armed with a crowbar, chisel and cable ties.

Richards was badly injured inside the house and later had to have part of his right leg amputated.

Richards, of Ollerton Road, Birmingham, and Darren Randall, of Yardley Fields Road, Birmingham, were found guilty in November of aggravated burglary after a trial at Worcester Crown Court.

Richards was jailed for 10 and a half years and Randall for 12 years. Randall also received two further concurrent sentences totalling 28 months for possessing illegal ammunition and producing cannabis.
