Cash machine at Malvern Morrisons swallows customer's card

A CASH machine at a supermarket was found to have been tampered with after it swallowed a customer's cash card.

The woman got in touch with staff at Morrisons, Malvern Link, after the machine, operated by Nat West, took her card, and police were called at about 5.25pm on Monday.

The cash machine has been tampered with and a device attached to retain cards. Two men, one wearing a black coat and the other wearing a grey coat, were seen hanging around near the machine.

Spokesman Toby Shergold said: "We don't know if anyone else lost their card, but if they did, we urge them to get in touch. We also want to hear from anyone who saw anyone suspicious."

Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting incident 509/S/110213, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

won't affect people in ledbury, it's a well-known fact that people in ledbury only ever do their shopping in ledbury

This happened at the co-op on Ombersley Road the other day. The staff in the store were really unhelpful, saying the machine is not their responsibility and simply let people keep trying to use it!

I always have a quick check before I use a cash machine. Make sure nothing pulls off.

cash machines at supermarkets are very much the supermarkets responsibility. they pay to have the machines and they make a profit out of each transaction. next time the machines breaks down and u come up again an unhelpful shop assistant, try holding-up the store and see where it gets u.

As the guard of this store I check the ATM everyday and this is the 3rd device I have found now, although they never mention my name on here! But they do not belong to Morrisons at all and are not filled by Morrisons like some stores are, however as a service to customers I will continue to check that customers are not the victims of scams and help them try to keep hold of there hard earned money
