The C1262 Hoarwithy Bridge to Kings Caple has reopened
9:39am Thursday 14th February 2013 in News
A RURAL route that looked set to be closed for months has reopened early.
The C1262 Hoarwithy Bridge to Kings Caple road had been closed due to subsidence caused by a local badger sett, but Herefordshire Council, Amey and Natural England have come up with a solution to keep the bridge open with traffic lights in place.
With badgers and their setts strictly protected by law, work to repair the damage can only take place under licence. Due to the risk of trapping dependent cubs below ground during the badger breeding season, initial estimates suggested that the work could not take place until early summer.
